They have been expanding the use of robots to pick orders.. A robot is cheaper than a human period. It turns out the robot is also more efficient. Essentially all the humans do is to pack the order the robots bring the shelf where the items are to the worker, who grabs the item scans it and packs it,while the robot returns the goods to some location. http://www.informationweek.com/strategic-cio/amazon-robotics-iot-in-the-warehouse/d/d-id/1322366.
