I don't share Kristol's optimismReader comment on: Optimism From Bill Kristol Submitted by David in Cal (United States), Jul 30, 2016 18:34 I agree that baby boomer progressivism is intellectually and morally exhausted. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean it will depart the scene. Progressivism has clearly failed in Chicago and Detroit, but they've become one-party towns. Republicans cannot get elected, even though a changed approach is obviously needed. The Dems now control most news outlets, our schools and colleges. Under Obama, it became acceptable (or even praiseworthy) for federal employees to misuse their power to help the Democratic party and its liberal allies. If Hillary is elected, the federal government could become stuck in a version of Chicago: bad government, but with no realistic other party alternative.
