If Nobel prize winners pay taxes on their prize so should athletes

It turns out that Nobel and Pulitizer prize winners pay taxes on those prize winnings unless they immediately give the prize to charity. Why should athletes get a break compared to the other winners many of whom have benefited society far more than athletes.
