The difference is you go year round still get the same 8 semesters, but in 2.6 years instead. Just like the new trend to move to a european model for med school, where you are admitted after high school and it is 6 years to the degree, because there is no bachelors degree involved. Both reduce the cost of education by shortening the time taken and at least reducing the accrued interest on student loans.
