Why doesn't someone run on a 10th amendment platform.

Read the commerce clause narrowly rather than widely and devolve most issues to the states. Stop all federal grants to the states, and cut federal taxes to match. Then the states can raise their taxes to their own desire. Interestingly most state constitutions have a bill of rights very similar to the federal one but the state courts being elected tend to not be as activist. Now to make it work, you would have to ensure that the states did not do things like literacy tests to wall some voters off, (or today voter id), as well as districts for the state legislature. Perhaps the left is beginning to rediscover that states have more extensive powers than the federal government after the recent election.
