Sort of like health care mandates

Reader comment on: Cost of Compliance

Submitted by Andrew Terhune (United States), Nov 18, 2017 10:26

States and the ACA have all kinds of mandates about what must be covered by health care policies. Each on its own sounds reasonable. Who's against requiring that preventative care be included with no co-pay?They are often sold as "adding only 2%" or some small amount to the cost of a policy. What is overlooked is that there may be a dozen or more of these mandates and the cumulative effect as in the instant case it to make what might have been affordable unaffordable.

Why not let people buy health care policies a la carte choosing the features they want and eschewing what they don't want?
