New York State and Oregon have minimum wages that vary by geography, New York with upstate having a lower minimum than the NYC area and Oregon the division being either east or west of the Cascades. We can compare Oregon to Ca where the statewide minimum is the same everywhere, despite rural Ca being not as well off as coastal ca. So we will find out over the next couple of years if the idea works or not.
