Reader comment on: Facebook's Reliability Problem

why a long academicy-sounding article detailing deep, deep, concerns with what amounts to gossip and reasons therefore is interesting. Isn't this just an objection to disintermediation and its (well-deserved) destruction of curating and gate-keeping and clubby institutions that used to provide fat paychecks, fame, self-congratulatory awards and plaudits, and invitations to the best cocktail parties? Moreover, there are plenty of fake news stories going back years that are of greater concern, but they are taught in history and economics courses usually in glowing reference to the United States Federal* Government.
