Equal rights and moneyReader comment on: Paul Singer's 'Witch Hunt' Submitted by Dave (United States), Aug 31, 2010 13:04 You write: "Under American law and under the principle of the rule of law, justice is blind — whether you have legal rights has nothing to do with how wealthy you are." The statement is naive. All rights are economic. The more money you have, the more rights you have. Yes, the courts are open to anyone but they require a lawyer (or 10) to make them work for you. Is it wrong to identify a person by their wealth when it is not a relevant fact? Yes. It's done simply to gin up class warfare and resentment, of which we seem to have more than enough at the moment. But it does you no credit to argue that any aspect of American society works just as well for the poor as the rich. Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing.
