Obama is protecting himself

Obama is essentially circling the wagons. He has his positions he wants to protect - socialized health care, keeping competition out of the education business, and some alternative energy.

He "gets" capitalism and disagrees with it vehemently. He is just letting a little free-market / conservative rhetoric come in to save his main positions.

From a socialist perspective, its a smart thing to do. In converting America to a socialist vision, his two highest priorities will eventually socialize the rest if he can just protect them long enough.
