The total federal tax take as a percent of GDP is now the lowest in 60 years.Reader comment on: Rove, Hubbard Back Tax Increase Submitted by Lyle (United States), Feb 10, 2010 08:42 It was noted in a budget hearing that the total federal tax take is under 18% of gdp compared to an average of 20 %. In order to fix the deficit problem it has to come back to at least the average value. I like the idea of a vat and abolishing the corp tax, because its to easy to game the corp tax.
