The real issue is that some people can evade paying taxes by 'donating' money to a charitable cause. Those of us with less money, but enough to pay taxes, don't have a say as to where our money goes. Unlike givers from the past such as Carnegie who just gave money to build libraries, today's givers want to say what books, DVD, etc., go into the library. They get tax breaks and choices that other citizens don't enjoy.
