Assume that we extend last year's limits (3.5 million ) or 7 for a family. The average price for ag land in the US is about 1400/acre, and land makes up 79% of the value of a farm. Running the numbers that's about 3900 acres. Now if the land is also being held for development then the matter is different, but if the desire is to maintain the land as a farm a conservation easement would reduce the price on the land. Even in New York the average is about 2800/acre implying 1800 acres, before estate taxes are due. So it's only the big operations that would get hit, not the family farm.
