Accolades to those contributing to the Giving PledgeReader comment on: Munger on the Giving Pledge Submitted by David Gehin (United States), Sep 21, 2010 12:59 Long have I believed that if wealth in this country were distributed there would be no poverty or those who fall between the cracks of our economic system. This is a huge step in helping millions of people in this country. Not only financially but setting a standard for the rest of the country to follow. The experts maintain that the recession is ending, yet we look at each other to see who will make the first move back to the markets and investment companies. I am a casualty of this recession. I was laid off a year ago and did not qualify for state unemployment benefits. In the following months I spent all of my retirement money on living expenses. After I depleted my savings 4 months ago and my investments 2 months ago, I still have not found full time permanent gainful employment. My modest one bedroom condo is going into foreclosure and I am receiving shut off notices for my utilities. I still have hope I can pull it together before my mortgage holder informs me the time has come for me to move out. Then I lose the $50,000.00 down payment I made 8 years ago when I moved here. This article has given me hope during this, the hardest time I've faced during my adult life. Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing. Other reader comments on this item
