Reader comment on: Munger on the Giving Pledge

I have always been a admirer of Warren Buffett. I have followed him on occasion, and it seems to me, he is a honest man of his word. But I would be skeptical of giving money, making a pledge, and not knowing exactly where the money is going. Now for most of us, buying stock is a dream, not a reality. My husband had to work two jobs most of our marriage, to keep the bills going, and paying for my family's funerals. Now there is a TV person, who has items to sell, like $150.00 for a wrist band made out of material. I have mold in my bathroom. You could never know who was telling the truth or telling a lie, unless you saw it for yourself. Now for the government aid, why would you take it, if you do not need it? I would be thrilled to go on a vacation, see the ocean, all kinds of beautiful things. Would I take government aid? I believe I would for the simple reason, my husband has worked with polio in his left arm, and to do anything, he has to use his right arm to lift his left arm up. Now he is 62, finally got a good job around five years ago, in which he could quit construction. Our lives went to our families, and paying for my mom, dad, and sisters, funerals. He worked 18 years for $9. 80, (approx) so he had to get another job. Now he is 61, I am 58, and about four years ago, we got custody of my 12 year old grand-daughter. It has been rough, so I think I would have to say I would take the government aid. But the ones who made all the money, should look around and not turn the other cheek. I don't know much about politics, billionaires, etc. I know what my husband brings home, and it is still rough. We were hoping to live by a lake by now. Why not use some of the money for the homeless? I have honestly gave my last shirt away to someone who needed it. I am a giver, not a taker. I wouldn't sign the pledge if I had any money. Now days, it is too scary. So if you don't take the government aid, there are ways you get around getting it anyway, right? I like Mr. Buffet. always have. I hope he does right in giving the money to whom it helps, not for publicity. Thank you.
