It is unfortunate that you took the last sentence about putting income in the hands of people who need it ... in a literal sense in the same way that Christian fundamentalists read the Bible. An unbiased people would simply interpret it this way: there are consequences to tax policies; some policies slice the pie favoring the rich, some slice the pie favoring the poor. Too many policies in the past favored the rich by allowing the rich to deduct this and that, policies clearly that did no good to those who had little to spend to begin with and hence could not make use of them. There are others and there is no need to belabor the obvious. In the worst of times, the "little people" (BP quote) suffer the most and don't you not want to be a little compassionate toward this little people?
