Insider Trading....Reply to Fut. of CaptlsmReader comment on: Minority Broker-Dealers Campaign Contributions Submitted by J.Johnson (United States), Oct 20, 2010 16:46 I yield to no person in my admiration of Milton Friedman. But, with respect to your Response, Mr. Stoll, I woud say: 1) Milton Friedman was great, but not perfect. I have many hours of VCR tapes of him and mixed in with incredible wisdom are a few whoppers; and 2) With specific respect to his remark about insider trading, I suspect he was referring to insider trading by insiders, i.e., employees and executives of a company. I doubt he would approve of congressional aides, not company employees, trading on confidential knowledge available to them because of their favored positions in the Congress where they can get information not available to the public, sometimes even compelling the revealing of information only to government officials and their staffs that a company would prefer not to reveal for legitimate reasons.
