Reader comment on: Vanguard Endorses Obama, Democrats

Submitted by Drew (United States), Oct 26, 2010 03:01

In your last sentence you ask what the "furious" left's reaction will be to the news that a corporation would openly admit to endorsing the democrats. I'm curious if that is a mistake...? The question is not about whether a corporation endorses a politician but whether it donates money for anonymous advertising that is then used to attack a politician with falsehoods or lies. The anonymous nature means there is no one to blame in that case. There is, of course, the other issue of whether unlimited corporate money should be allowed to be spent on political campaigns, but that is completely separate from what is discussed here. In this case, I think that you are probably combining two completely separate issues and linking them together without any real connection in order to attack the left. The worst part is that this post isn't even about corporate funding of advertising, this is simply an endorsement...

However, thank you for linking to Vanguard's blog, I thought what Steve Utkus had to say was interesting. I still favor Paul Krugman's advice about the economy though.
