"Studies now show a vast disparity between black families and the rest of America when it comes to assets."

Why not give reparations to those black families with family wealth lower than that held by the average or the median white family?

"The racial disparities in pandemic death rates and in vaccination uptake, though, show that it's difficult to tackle the pandemic without confronting the legacy of slavery."

The racial disparities in pandemic death rates result in part from African American people refusing to be vaccinated. So instead of "confronting the legacy of slavery," I think African American people should roll up their sleeves and be vaccinated.
