great pointReader comment on: The Census and Taxes Submitted by ben (United States), Dec 21, 2010 14:34 Good point, the people of Bangladesh, a nation that will virtually disappear as the seas rise probably are annoyed about this too. The press corps are not scientists making arguments, they are reporting on scientists who near universally agree that climate change will have disastrous consequences around the World. Perhaps Florida will need even lower tax rates to lure people to a state with multiple category five hurricanes each fall? Perhaps Texas will need lower tax rates to handle the severe droughts that may occur? It is mind boggling to me that so many people on the right, who are obviously intelligent and wouldn't question a surgeon's expertise while on the operating table, question climate scientists. But before I pick a surgeon I check their credentials and their outcomes. The weathermen can't tell us reliably whether it'll rain or snow this coming weekend, and we're supposed to be 100% confident they can predict the temperature 50 or 100 years from now? I'm not reflexively hostile to the climate scientists, just skeptical like I am of everyone. Other reader comments on this item
