Obamacare!Reader comment on: Squandering Medicare's Money Submitted by ben (United States), May 26, 2011 12:46 Obama's health care plan has a board set up to review procedures and determining whether they actually help. Currently, the decision is left up to a doctor who gets paid based on his procedures. If you liked her column, you must be in favor of that crucial element in Obamacare (one that Republicans attacked viciously as rationing or the government bureaucrats intervening in the doctor/patient relationship). The Future of Capitalism replies: Is that board in ObamaCare — also known as the "Death Panel" — just for Medicare, or for everything? I think one can be for spending restraint in Medicare without being for mandating its application via government to the rest of the health care system that isn't currently government-paid (except via the tax preference for employer-provided health insurance.)
