Why do you think railroads want high speed rail?

They don't want it it, only interferes with moving trains. What Rose wants is money to build more crossing seperations so that autos and trains do not interact in ways that are bad for the motorist (if a train and an car collide the car loses). If you look the railroads gave a lot of their old 400 foot right of way up in the early part of the 20th century for roads (why do roads and railroads run together so much). Note however that we can choose to pay for roads thru tolls or a gas tax it all washes out as user fees.
