In some states it is a saturday or sunday blue law (or at least was in Tx, until the rebellion when one store opened on saturday between thanksgiving and christmas, and the next weekend all did. Once this happened the law was dead, and was repealed during the next session of the legislature. (It was during the great mid 1980s oil bust in Texas).
