Blue Laws Did Not Stand the TestReader comment on: Cost-Free Job-Creating Idea No. 14 Submitted by Michael E. Marotta (United States), Sep 29, 2011 20:35 Sorry to hear that New Jersey is still in the Dark Ages. Sunday closing laws ("Blue Laws") were defeated 30 years ago in Ohio. The Sunday sabbath is not recognized by all Christians. Not only do Seventh Day Adventists look at the common calendar and recognize Saturday as the Last Day of the Week, that day is called "Sabado" in Spanish and "Szombot" in Hungarian, i.e., Sabbath. So, even if these ridiculous laws could pass a religious challenge, they would in fact, fail an actual religious challenge. I don't know why New Jersey suffers a dearth of civil libertarians. I am just glad that I don't live there. Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing. Other reader comments on this item
