TEA Partiers aren't who you think they are.

Reader comment on: The New York Times on the Tea Party Movement

Except for that jarring paragraph, overall, it is an unbiased look at the T.E.A. Party movement. If you subscribe to several of their newsletters, from groups around the nation, they aren't talking about party platforms or changing the planks of those platforms. They're talking about changing the entire system, peacefully, if at all possible. The TEA Party Nation, for example, does not represent the TEA Party movement as a whole. The 50 leaders of various TEA Party groups meeting with Steele don't represent the majority of TEA Party groups, either. In fact, in most TEA Party groups, conservatives and Republicans are outnumbered nearly 2-1 by Independents and Democrats.
