System FredReader comment on: Ganging Up On Gingrich at Iowa Republican Debate Submitted by Down-Easter (United States), Dec 11, 2011 17:35 It's coming down to Newt or Romney, and, given the likely nature of the coming campaign, Newt's ability to fight fire with fire and to inspire may trump Romney's obvious competence but too technocratic style. Although of the establishment, Newt, one must remember, achieved his fame by upending the Democratic stranglehold of the House in one of the great anti-establishment upheavals of modern times. That is what he does best and thus, he may be, once again, the man for the moment given the intense leftward lurch of Obama and the Senate Democrats. If Gingrich should triumph, it is to be hoped that his maturity will serve him well and that he won't repeat his shortcomings as speaker, an executive role in which he is less effective, in his new role as president.
