The Stansford Professor, Joe Nation, is not a professor of economics. He is not an actuary. He posseses a PHD in a subject wholly unrelated to public sector retirement systems. His MO is to substitute his judgement regarding discount rates for that of actuaries, cutting the estimate by half, then complaining about the "true" unfunded liability --which like magic has doubled.

Please remember that Stanford is a hotbed of right-wing ideology... .
