Based upon this article http://www.theage.com.au/technology/technology-news/investigation-finds-iphone-workers-putting-in-illegal-60hour-work-weeks-20120330-1w214.html it appears that it is a law in china that limits the work week to 49 hours. The article notes that the workers are typically young and single and many have nothing else to do but work, but of course in China the law is the law.
