Reader comment on: Krauthammer on ObamaCare

Krauthammer is heartless. His analogy is offensive. Is a free ice cream cone analogous to having your child's health care cut because the coverage limit was reached? I understand the point he is trying to make, but he is dead wrong about that as well. The appropriate analogy would be more like the government is giving you steak Monday, Roses Tuesday, shards of glass the Wednesday, and cholera on Thursday. Of course, the shards of glass and cholera aren't actually in the bill (death panels), but since Sarah Palin posted it on her facebook page, the media covers it, Fox news trumpets it and people believe it. The American public can be confused about a lot of things - what percentage think that Saddam Hussein attacked us on 9/11? Does this mean we are dumb, no. It means we are misinformed. It is no surprise considering the amount of misinformation around health care. What the polls that show the individual elements are popular prove is that if people actually know what is in the bill, they like it. This is why Obama and Democrats know that once it passes it is a win on policy and politics. This is why the Republicans continue to fight tooth and nail.
