Jet SettersReader comment on: Mitt Romney Jet Ski Submitted by Jim Zien (United States), Jul 5, 2012 14:42 About that "jet ski." It's no ordinary machine that the Romneys are riding in the photo op. It's a "SeaDoo SE130," one of the highest-performance thrill rides on the water, with a speed capability of 60 MPH and a fuel burn rate of over 10 gallons per hour, possibly more. For perspective, an automobile that gets 25 MPG will burn about 2.5 gallons of gas in hour's worth of driving at 60 MPH. So the Romneys' SeaDoo uses at least four times the fuel as an average car, polluting the air over lovely Lake Winnepesaukee with four times the carbon dioxide and other noxious fossil fuel gases as Ann's Cadillac (if it's a fuel-efficient model). All for the recreational luxury-lover's price of , say, a self-employed worker's annual premium for a rock-bottom, high-deductible health care policy -- around $10,000.
