Williston as a boom town.

It will eventually endure the coming crash as did Virginia City (NV or MT), Butte, Helena or even Calumet MI. Drilling will slow for one reason or another and lots of places will be abandoned. We do know the history of boom towns well, the western US is full of them. Ok for example has a number of ex boom towns from earlier oil booms.
