Health systems in Ohio actually offer teleconference appointments for patients in rural offices with just a PA or Nurse Practioner present with their top specialists located in the major city medical centers. Armed with all the test results and equipment that can provide immediate additional biofeedback, everyone saves time and expense while increasing access to quality care. There are so many ideas like this in the private sector that makes socialized medicine premature to me. It would have been better for government to truly incentivize the current provider/insurer/payee system to solve the cost and access problems than to layer in massive regulation and cost burden on the states.
