Reader comment on: Obama's 'Decent' Wages Escalate Prices

Submitted by Richard Mitchell (United States), Aug 13, 2013 09:10

American business is free to pay its rank and file employees as little as legally possible and their CEOs as much as the board of directors will allow. However, there is a law of diminishing returns that will eventually come into play. Henry Ford's idea to pay his workers enough to buy his cars is still relevant today. Just because business can fill its ranks with all minimum wage workers does not mean it should. Do we really want to turn the clock back 100 years when few people outside of farming owned a home, or could afford much more than food clothing and a shelter they did not own?
