Much the same in Pennsylvania

Reader comment on: A $425,000 Liquor License

Submitted by Andrew Terhune (United States), Jul 27, 2014 18:02

The number of liquor licenses is controlled in Pennsylvania as well with the same pernicious effect. Since the number is regulated by municipality, the prices vary widely across the state. The only good side is that we have a thriving population of BYO restaurants.

We are also afflicted with a state-run retail liquor system. Imagine if you had to buy liquor at the post office.
