Wrong and RightReader comment on: DBE Fraud Submitted by John Gillis (United States), Dec 19, 2014 18:11 I think that your praising of the US Attorney for his fraud pursuits regarding DBE entities is wrong. While I agree that the company being pursued was likely performing disingenuous activities with the chosen DBE companies (and thus in that limited way, the Attorney was doing something right), your last paragraph points to an entirely different perspective - which is right. The laws that create these artificial "affirmative action" companies, whether they be black, female, American Indian, etc. are a sick joke in the economics of construction. These laws allow various people to incorporate and sell their "services" entirely based on their "disadvantaged" status and not because they are any good at their chosen business, whether it be painting, concrete or what-have-you. Of course, they may be excellent, but by becoming a DBE they hurt themselves (by joining this "ghetto") and the citizenry, who pay inflated prices for the special interests.
