To heck with the shareholders. Raising the stock price was secondary to good business sense unti the 1960s. Also, raising stock price has done little to increase productivity. If productivity rises, the stock price will follow.

Companies that have access to American markets, should be strongly encouraged to hire Americans. Anything else is corporate welfare.
