Take a walk around Manhattan and note all the 6 storey buildings on every block. Those small buildings are being warehoused because of zoning laws and rent control laws. Get rid of the zoning and rent control laws and you will have an unprecedented supply of new, affordable buildings.

Here's another thought. We can't see what Manhattan would look like today if the entrepreneurial class had been allowed to use their creative energies. Do you know those futuristic cities you see in sci-fi movies? That could be us.
