Whatever you think of their methods or of them as people, Gates and Rockefeller competed and won. Neither of them inherited their wealth and power. "Spreading the wealth" and other socialistic programs have been tried and have produced poorer results in terms of growth, prosperity, and innovation. Many well meaning and high minded people forget this fact. Taking from one and giving to another motivates neither to work or study harder. This simple truth seems to be lost on the previous readers who commented. Capitalism works best because it channels our natural instincts. While it may be necessary to have some rules and limits, each should be adopted with care as the unintended side effects caused by changes in behavior often out weigh the intended benefits.
