Because the media is on the side of the Democrats, they'll follow any line of attack. E.g, Trump's comment about Putin being a powerful leader became treason in the media echo chamber. Here, a thoughtful comment about re-analyzing NATO is portrayed as stupid, while Hillary's unthinking support of the status quo is portrayed as smart.
