I heartily agree that boosting federal outlays for more infrastructure projects is a bad idea. The states, cities, local governments & private sector companies will do a much better job.

The # of mass transit boondoggles, tunnels, freeways costing ten's of billions of dollars is just too large IMO. The states can work together across state lines without that much trouble that they need federal dollars to grease the skids.

The Democrats are particularly suspect about infrastructure big spending. In the past they were prone to siphoning off funds targeted to highways, bridges to inner city mass transmit projects, railroads, etc. They did it to pander for votes election time.
