Mr.Rattner's Column

Reader comment on: Rattner Versus Reagan

Submitted by David E. Moran (United States), May 8, 2017 20:11

It is typical of Rattner and other "centrist" Democrats to cherry-pick, make things up, write shrewdly and otherwise preen as sages of economic wisdom. Rattner is best remembered as the savior of the UAW and the curse of the GM bondholders, who until Rattner came around thought they had a legal right to be repaid or at least be part of the reorganization.

Remember, folks, the word economics comes from the Greek words meaning "the law of the household", thus microeconomics. Macroeconomics is the term used by guys like Rattner and that other economist who writes columns for the NYT who once was a paid adviser to Enron (thanks, James Taranto) for policy preferences they like because of their politics. Macroeconomics was, is and always has been malarkey. All we want from "macro" is sound money and low inflation so we as individuals and workers can plan.
