Did they read it or just the Cliffs Notes?

I read a number of the articles and columns on the Google memo and my reaction to many was, "Did they actually read it or are they writing based on their reading other columnists?" I actually read the memo. Perhaps writing it was ill-advised given the nature of at-will employment, but there was nothing objectionable in it.

I wonder if the powers-that-be at Google ever read it or did they just read someone else's opinion of it.
