Once again critical thinking eludes.

Government regulation is rampant. The problem is that government regulation establishes minimums. If a business meets the standard imposed by an incompetent government regulator, that is all it need do to stay in business. In a free market, the business is responsible to every party it damages, even if it results in the business going out of business. It is also responsible for the full cost of the cleanup and repairs. There are no government bailouts, either with money or supposed expertise. In spite of its repeated failures, E. J. Dionne believes in government. He is intellectually incapable of conceiving any other way.
