What is this "elite" business? Can we please have a definition? The tea party types throw this word around a lot, and yet it is a moving target. It can't be education because the anti-elites often went to Ivy League schools themselves. It can't be wealth because many of the leaders of the Republican Party are some of the wealthiest in the country. It can't be attitude because many on the rights are so quick to look down on those different such as Gays, Latinos, Muslims. So what is it? I think it is just a handy epithet to hurl at anyone who thinks or looks differently. I wish both sides would give it up. It has lost all meaning. I will call the Green Berets an elite fighting force, and the round of 8 in the NCAA tournament the "Elite 8." Other than that, this word is dead to me.
