A smart company with a consumer focus does not take public positionsReader comment on: Vanguard Backs Down Submitted by Lyle (United States), Oct 27, 2010 10:49 This demonstrates why consumer branded companies won't make political contributions, they lose some customers if they do. No matter what position you may take some customers will be upset and threaten to take their business elsewhere. So if you serve consumers it's best to keep your positions to yourself, unless you are so thoroughly hated that it does not make a difference (like big banks) Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing.
