Variable Pricing

Reader comment on: A Front-Page Call for Price Regulation

Submitted by fghdcp (United States), Jun 17, 2020 18:46

The day of everyone paying the same price seems to be long gone, but I wonder how many consumers are aware of it. New marketing strategies with regards to low-pricing for new buyers and inflated pricing for those who have become regular purchasers of the product are today's norm, even in the supermarket, where Big Data information is being employed to the same effect, utilizing coupons to initially capture purchasers. I worry that once the differential is fully understood there will be more calls for government regulation, on top of the practices already evident in the health care industry.
