"that it's maddening to see the Times promoting it uncritically in a front page news article." The line between news and opinion has never been like the wall between church and state. I much prefer the European system where newspapers are up front about their slant. If you want the view of the left in the UK, read The Guardian. Of the right, any Murdoch paper. What's maddening about the American system is that almost all papers claim to be unbiased, but since they are managed by people, and people aren'e unbiased, neither are the newspapers. Better that they 'fess up and be proud of what they are.
