So ridiculous

When my ex left me and my kids and would only send mere pittance for child support I fell into a huge depression, but to make sure the girls (ages 5 and 4 at the time) got out and played I would take them to McDonald's and we would get two happy meals and share it between the 3 of us. They got to play, make friends for playdates, get some food and mostly walk away with a toy that, with their great imaginations, they would make stories about later on.

We did not do that often. If they asked if we could go to McD's I would say "No" and they might balk, but I would just distract them with something else fun they could do. The park, the water ( we live on a bay) or just playing.

That was the key, you be the parent and set boundaries and then stick to them. Plus be prepared with a back up if they really just want what your house cannot offer all the time - fun and new things.

I still love McD's even though those girls are now 19 and 18 and I now take my stepkids children there and they play and have fun and I eat the food they are just not eating because they are too busy playing. Which is probably all Ms Parnham's kids want. Fun, playing and a toy. What kid does not??

This nanny state mentality has to stop. It has to be nipped in the bud. I know there are many overweight kids in this nation (and world), but that does NOT mean the government or the courts need step in. It means the parents need to wake up and say "Uh, grilled chicken, apple dippers and milk, please?"

I pray this lawsuit gets thrown out as I hate the thought that because of that woman, costs at McDonald's will go up.
