Graduates are not enough

Reader comment on: Obama on College Graduates

Submitted by Fred Van Bennekom (United States), Mar 14, 2011 17:29

I concur. Look at what the media is saying is a major problem in several Middle East countries. Government increased the number of college graduates to placate the masses, but the unemployment rate is very high for these graduates. The media says, "Government didn't create jobs for these people." Of course, that presumes that government creates jobs. And in fact, the goal of many young people is to get a government job. What these governments didn't create was a climate -- legal and otherwise -- that fostered entrepreneurialism and encourage investment.

Sound familiar?
