Bastiat si, Keynes non. Thank you for reprinting that part of Bastiat's essay. You left out one part, though. Had the window not been broken, the baker would have had both his shoes and his window. Now he has only the (repaired) window. So he is worse off, even if the rest of the economy is at the same level.

Bastiat's "The Law" is a magnificent short booklet (or long pamphlet). About 50 pages. Available at Amazon:
